Laboratory Animal Veterinarian / Associate Director

Harlan Sprague Dawley, Inc. - a global leader in providing preclinical research tools, research models and services that enable innovative and efficient discovery and development in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agro-chemical, industrial, and basic life science research markets is expanding and has an immediate opportunity in our Indianapolis corporate office for a laboratory animal veterinarian.

Responsibilities: This position will report to the Director of Laboratory Animal Medicine. The successful candidate will manage up to 3 people including the Harlan Geneticist. He/She will have oversight of our in-house genetic monitoring program and our GenScreen testing services and in this capacity will provide client presentations on Harlan's genetic monitoring programs. He/she will also support Harlan's Indianapolis based contract research support services. Additional responsibilities may also include assistance with assuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as oversight of AAALAC accreditation.

Requirements: Must possess a DVM degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited school and a veterinary medical license for at least one state. Completion of a residency training program in laboratory animal medicine and ACLAM board certification or eligibility is highly desirable. At least three years of experience in a research setting is required. Prior experience in management of rodent colonies is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills required. Fluency in English - speaking, reading, and writing is required. This position will require some overnight travel.
