Sr. Clinical Veterinarian

Location: Alice, TX

The Scientific Resource Center, located in Alice, TX, is looking for a dynamic Sr. Clinical Veterinarian to assist the team with our growing business. SRC was founded in 2006, and currently has over 25 associates that focus primarily on animal care.

As the Sr. Clinical Veterinarian you will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating laboratory animals to ensure health of animals used in scientific research and to comply with regulations governing their humane and ethical treatment in support of study conduct.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Provides routine and/or specific veterinary medical, dental, imaging, and surgical services for all animal species.
  • Provides professional leadership in the care and resolution of complex medical cases that arise within the facility.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of the preventive medicine program for all animal species.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with Federal regulations governing the humane care and use of laboratory animals.
  • Performs inventory count and orders necessary supplies and equipment. Assures equipment is maintained and validated where applicable.
  • Performs clerical/administrative duties, including; medical records, reports, examinations sheets, forms readied for use for recording procedures, etc.
  • May assume regulatory responsibilities in the absence of the Attending Veterinarian.
  • Ensure preventive health program execution, CDC and domestic isolation programs, colony/stock animal's health/medical care.

Education & Experience:
The successful candidate will possess a DVM or VMD and have a minimum of 4 years experience in Laboratory Animal Medicine, including experience with NHP. A State License in Veterinary Medicine is required. USDA accreditation and DEA registration are preferred. ACLAM preferred.
